Paid Internship at Department of Legal Affairs – 50 Seats, Multiple Cities | Apply by Aug 11

Let’s not sugarcoat it — this is not your average law internship.
We’re talking about the Department of Legal Affairs (DOLA) under the Ministry of Law & Justice, Government of India. The place where policy meets practice, where files can change laws, and where legal advice shapes decisions that impact the entire country.

And guess what? They’re opening 50 seats for law students and fresh graduates for September and onwards — across New Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru.

Why This Internship Should Be on Your Radar

Most internships give you some exposure. This one gives you direct insight into how the Indian Government handles law — from Constitutional & Administrative Law to Finance, Labour, Arbitration, Contracts, and Infrastructure Law.

You’ll witness:

  • How government litigation is fought at the Supreme Court & High Courts

  • How departments interact with ministries, courts, and agencies

In short — this is the real machinery of law.

The rules here are strict and non-negotiable:

  • Discipline is non-negotiable — Attendance is monitored. 90% is mandatory for a completion certificate.
  • Formal Dress Code — Black trousers + white shirt. No experiments.
  • Confidentiality is sacred — Any leak of internal work = immediate termination. You will also sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement.
  • No moonlighting — This is a full-time physical internship. You cannot work elsewhere or take another internship during this month.
  • Own Accommodation — You arrange your own stay. The department does not provide housing.
  • Timings are fixed — 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM unless your controlling officer says otherwise.
  • No special favours — You follow the same protocols as government employees for entry, passes, and conduct.
  • Library is for reference only — No borrowing. Photocopy if needed.
  • Unsatisfactory performance = Out — The department can terminate you anytime without explanation.
  • If you want to leave early — You must inform the department beforehand.

Why This Internship Will Change Your Perspective

If you’ve only seen the law from the outside, this will change the way you think about it.
You will understand how legal advice, litigation, and administration come together in real governance.

And in the process — you’ll build contacts, sharpen your research skills, and learn the government’s legal language.

One month here > Six months at a random law firm with no real work.
